Press Conference on Lao Digital Week 2025

H.E. Academician Prof. Boviengkham VONGDARA, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Technology and Communications:

• Excellencies, Respected Leaders of the Party and the Government;
• Honored and Distinguished Senior Leaders, Officers, Soldiers, Police, and Lao People of all ethnicities across the country;
• Distinguished Representatives of the press, journalists, and guests.

In the midst of the ongoing efforts by the Party, armed forces, and Lao citizens across the country in the active implementation of the resolution of the 11th Party Congress and the 9th Five-Year National Socio-Economic Development Plan, the Ministry of Technology and Communications, under the leadership of the National Committee on Digital Transformation of Lao PDR, will organize Lao Digital Week 2025 to commemorate three historic anniversaries of the Party and the government. These include the 70th anniversary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Lao PDR, and the 105th anniversary of the birth of the late President Kaysone Phomvihane. Therefore, today, the Ministry of Technology and Communications is holding this press conference to inform and provide details to all stakeholders.

The primary objectives of organizing Lao Digital Week are as follows:

• To promote and raise awareness across society, fostering a deeper understanding of digital transformation and the development of the digital economy and society in the Lao PDR.
• To promote the use of innovative technologies, communication technologies, telecommunications, and modern digital tools in all sectors of economic and social development, from central to local levels.
• To select Lao PDR's ICT and digital products for participation in competitions at the ASEAN and international levels, such as the ASEAN ICT Award 2025.
• To contribute to the successful implementation of the 9th Five-Year National Socio-Economic Development Plan (2021–2025), as well as the National Digital Economy Development strategies.

The Digital Week will feature a diverse range of activities, including:

• A High-Level Forum will be held to bring together ministry leaders for the exchange of lessons learned in the digital transformation process.
• Seminars on the digital transformation of the government, the integration of technology in creating the digital economy, Industry 4.0, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain, Big Data, Cloud Computing, and Internet of Things (IoT).
• Exhibitions and achievements showcasing information technologies, telecommunications, communications, and innovations with over 100 booths on display.
• Networking sessions, discussions, consultations, and exchanges of views on research and investment.
• Competitions will include the Lao ICT Awards 2025 competition, cybersecurity competition, ROBOT competition, startup pitches, and various other innovations.

Lao Digital Week 2025 will be made possible through the generous support and sponsorship of various stakeholders and exhibitors, with sponsorship and exhibitor participation organized into four levels: 1) Diamond, 2) Platinum, 3) Gold, and 4) Silver. Government agencies and educational institutions will be granted exhibition booth space free of charge.

On this auspicious occasion, I would like to extend a cordial invitation to ministries, government agencies, international organizations, research institutions, educational institutions, universities, the private sector, entrepreneurs in the ICT and digital sectors, both domestic and international, as well as Lao people of all ethnicities, to participate, promote the event, and showcase their works and products.

In this regard, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all government leaders and relevant sectors for their invaluable guidance and support in facilitating the Ministry of Technology and Communications, particularly in organizing this event.
